When life gives you lemons, make lemonade

“You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.” – Maya Angelou

May has been challenging to say the least and has been the perfect example of how unpredictable life can be. Instead of focusing on particular things that happened in May I decided to share with the areas in which I felt a lot of growth.

☼ Inspiration – Bali was a breath of fresh air for myself, it gave me a whole new perspective of life despite the challenges that followed our holiday. I kept a travel diary while I was away so if you’re interested he is a link to Day 1 which you can follow until the last day of our holiday. I also wrote a post about how Bali inspired me to live a more purposeful life and some tips for others to do the same.

☼ Resilience – Lets face it, it’s almost impossible to live life without any unexpected challenges or stressful situations. May gave us an opportunity to test our resilience head on. It has been testing and mentally exhausting however we were forced to grow our coping skills which has given us the confidence that we can get through any tough situation.

☼ Persistence – Despite any setbacks, uncertainties or discomfort we powered through and kept pushing. Having the motivation to succeed through the obstacles meant that quitting was not an option.

☼ Strength – My husband has shown strength that I think has exceeded both his own and my expectations. The way he composes himself in the most difficult situations is admirable and I couldn’t be prouder of the man he is today.

☼ Gratitude – I am truly more grateful than ever for all of the genuine, kind, loyal people we have in our life. Over the years I have worked hard on changing my perspective of how I see the world and I am more aware than ever that to even be having the challenges we have is nothing compared to what others are going through and for that I am thankful.

If you’re going through a tough time repeat this mantra, “My current situation is not my permanent destination.”

Thanks for reading! ☮
