New Zealand Travel Diary 5 – Shotover Jet

Welcome back!

Here is my fifth and final entry of my New Zealand Travel diary, you can check out my first entry here, second entry here , third entry here and my fourth entry here.

Here are some super quick answers to some common questions

  1. I am here with my husband, 8 year old son and 6 year old daughter

  2. We are staying at Peppers Beacon, Queenstown which is in walking distance of everything

  3. We are staying here for 7 nights

  4. Here is a list of snow essentials for skiing or snowboarding that I recommend buying before coming to NZ. I got most of the snow gear from ALDI and the remaining from Mountain Warehouse.

Day Six

Today we did the Shotover jet experience on the Kimiākau (Shotover River.) You get both an adrenaline rush and an opportunity to see more of the beautiful surroundings New Zealand has to offer. I’m not sure if there are other companies that provide a similar experience but if you go through the company I linked above you actually get exclusive access to the canyons which is AMAZING. **TIP – Make sure you wear a beanie and that it is on tight as there’s a huge chance it will blow of. If you want the biggest adrenaline rush I recommend sitting on the drivers side or right at the front. **

In the afternoon we went to the famous Fergburger which was one of those places we were told we HAD to go to. The burgers are definitely nice but I wasn’t blown away (maybe everyone hyped it up too much.)

We then took the kids to burn some energy at the playground at Queenstown Lakefront. Seriously the most beautiful park I have ever been too! The kids were having a ball until our son fell into the river (watch the video below to have a giggle) He also found it hilarious but considering the water was freezing cold we went home for a nice hot shower and to get him changed.

Final Day

Our flight was in the afternoon so to pass some time we took the kids back to thrill zone to kill some time. We decided to go into the Vortex 12D motion theatre which was really cool although our daughter found some parts of it scary. **TIP – If you get motion sickness DON’T do this!!** We then went and grabbed some lunch before heading off to the airport! We were sad to leave but also super happy to be going home.

I hope you enjoyed this travel diary! You can check out my Bali travel diary here and if all goes to plan I should have a Japan travel diary coming up next year!

Thanks again for reading ☮
