New Zealand Travel Diary 2 – Queenstown

Welcome back!

This is the second entry of my New Zealand Travel diary, you can check out my first entry here.

Here are some super quick answers to some common questions

  1. I am here with my husband, 8 year old son and 6 year old daughter

  2. We are staying at Peppers Beacon, Queenstown

  3. We are staying here for 7 nights

  4. Here is a list of snow essentials for skiing or snowboarding that I recommend buying before coming to NZ. I got most of the snow gear from ALDI and the remaining from Mountain Warehouse.

Day three

This was my favourite day so far! I booked a trip to Walter Peak High Country Farm after hearing a few positive reviews of the experience and it did not disappoint! The package included a scenic cruise on board the vintage TSS Earnslaw on Lake Wakatipu to the farm which was an awesome experience in itself. There is a cafe on board that also sells alcohol (BONUS!!) and you can go behind the scenes at the engine room which was actually super interesting.

When we arrived to the farm we were in awe at how unbelievably beautiful it was. Words cant describe just how stunning the views are, how green the grass is and how beautiful the flowers are. **TIP – There are different options for what you do on the farm when you get there so make sure you ask about that before booking. We decided to do the farm tour which included morning tea.** Without going into too much detail and potentially ruining the experience for you I’ll just quickly go over what to expect. You first watch a sheep shearing display and then get to watch the sheep dogs in action rounding up the sheep (this was hilarious.) You then walk around the farm and your host will teach you about the different animals and you have the opportunity to feed them. I was a bit apprehensive at first as I thought it might be a bit boring but it was honestly a day I’ll never forget and our kids absolutely loved it!

Stay tuned for my next update!

Thanks for reading ☮
