How to start making life work FOR you today

“Realise that if a door closed, it’s because what was behind it wasn’t meant for you.” ― Mandy Hale

I recently had the liberating feeling of a change in my perspective that I must share. It isn’t anything new and you have probably heard this before so for those people take this as a little reminder and for others here’s a chance to learn something new.

If you haven’t already read my post “Connecting the dots of your life” I would highly recommend it as it gives a little background on my history and links to the subject of this post well.

So here is the life changing perspective I have learnt…

Life doesn’t happen TO you, it happens FOR you. Say it out loud Think about your days going forward and answer the below questions in the mind frame that life isn’t happening TO you, it is happening FOR you.

  1. How would you react in a difficult situation?

  2. Would you give up because something hadn’t worked out the way you had planned?

  3. What would change in your daily life?

Before my perspective change my answers were all negative. I mean who wouldn’t be pissed if their flight had been cancelled or if that project you worked so hard on was rejected? Sometimes it does feel like the world is working against you no matter what you do and it’s easier to dwell in self-pity rather than look for the positives.

I know that change can happen at any time, yet I was still trying to fight it which ultimately made me feel worse. With my new perspective however, I trust that there’s a reason for what’s happening. I may not LIKE the situation, but I am able to ACCEPT the situation for what it is and keep moving forward. After all I’m sure it is just a stepping stone towards something bigger and the only thing I have the power to control and change is my reaction to what is happening, so I focus on that instead.

Adapting this new perspective isn’t easy but it’s worth it. Hold your belief that life is working for you close to your heart, use it as your mantra and remember that if things don’t go as planned there is something better coming to you.

Thanks for reading and make sure you share your smile with the world today ☮
