Farewell 2019, Hello 2020 – New Year Feels.

Sorry in advance for writing “2019” on everything for the next six months…

I’ve been contemplating whether I write a typical “What I achieved in 2019” or “Goals for 2020” blog post for over a week now but for some reason have totally avoided the subject up until today.

I remember the hype of bringing in the New Year as a child, I would fight to keep my eyes open to celebrate the clock ticking over to 12AM. I would wake up in the morning and look outside to see what was different, but nothing ever was. It always confused me as to why my entire family was so excited for this time of year yet nothing really changed.

I still had some similar feelings as an adult but with less of the excitement for a new year and more of a pessimistic view to the “fresh start” a new year is supposed to bring. So here I am, age 29 and i’ve only just accepted that to see a physical change in the new year requires some action on my behalf (yes 29 years later and the penny finally dropped lol)

The biggest, most valuable lesson I have learnt in life so far, is that most of the major life changes (both positive and negative) are never really planned, yet I survive. Everything works out exactly when and how it should so there is no need to stress or worry.

My approach for 2020 is to change up my small habits, the things I do daily on auto pilot that don’t contribute towards my ideal life. I already know that the major changes will come and go and after years of practice I feel like I have those periods covered. Now it’s time to focus on being present for those in between days, the mundane moments, the times spent alone and the time spent with others. It’s those days and moments that are most common after all and provide the biggest opportunity for change.

So here’s to 2020, the year of small changes and new habits to set myself up for another decade of growth and success.

What intentions have you set for the new year? Let me know in the comment section below.

Thanks for reading and don’t forget to share your smile with the world today. ✌
