Entering the last year of my twenties. Hello 29!

“You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe deserve your love and affection.”

Last Saturday (6th July) marked my final birthday I will ever celebrate in my 20’s! No longer in my early twenties, I’m in my late twenties, and almost my thirties. I can’t stand the thought of turning 30, it terrifies me. I mean who wouldn’t be scared when you see articles titled “30 Health Issues Every Woman Over 30 Should Start Looking Out For” or “Signs your getting old” and after reading it you identify with every single one!

Well today I was watching a Dr Phil episode (yes, this was a sign on the above article about getting old lol) and they were discussing age bias. Dr Phil was joined by Jo Ann Jenkins (best-selling author of Disrupt Ageing) who said “Ageism is ageless and you can be old at 35 or young at 70, it just depends on the mindset that you have.” This statement definitely caught my attention as it is something I truly believe. Dr. Phil continued and said “Your attitude about age when you’re young affects your health when you’re older, so you can’t be a Johnny-come-lately to this.” Jo Ann added, “We know that if you have a positive outlook on living longer, you’re likely to live seven years longer than if you have a negative attitude on ageing.

Okay so clearly the universe wanted me to hear this message. Ageing is inevitable and although it scares me, my attitude will determine the quality of my life. When I think about my past, it puts ageing in an entire different light. I have felt such a radical shift in my personal development over the years and I feel happier, lighter and more at peace so I should be excited for what else is to come.

This picture below represents the beauty of change and reminds me to celebrate my growth that has shaped me into the person I am today. I hope that by sharing this picture others will also feel the same sense of accomplishment as myself or at least have a sense of excitement for the journey that’s to come!

Was anyone else terrified of turning 30?

Thank you for reading and make sure you share your smile with the world today. ♡
