3 Simple Tips To Create Your Own Vision Board

“A vision is not just a picture of what could be; it is an appeal to our better selves, a call to become something more.” Rosabeth Moss Kanter

I have felt an intense need for change over the past few weeks and with the absolutely stunning and history making lunar eclipse that happened on Saturday it was clearly a sign that the time to make those changes is NOW. As part of this transformation I decided to replace my old vision board with new goals for the rest of the year which will give me the motivation and inspiration to action them. As a child I remember visualising my life as an adult and those visions have become reality so I’m a big believer that its a practice that works.

There are some incredible articles out there about what a vision board is, why it works and how to make it work for you but I wanted to keep this simple so thought I would share my 3 simple yet effective tips on putting together your own vision board.

  1. Put pen to paper – Before I start cutting and pastin

g I write some goals that reflect my purpose and intention exactly. For this particular board I have some goals that I want to achieve by the end of 2018 but your vision board could be goals you want to achieve in the next year, 5 years or even your lifetime. When you do this you need to dig deep to ensure you are crystal clear on what you want. Here are some examples of questions you might ask yourself. ❁ What do I want my life to look like in x year(s)/month(s) from today? ❁ What will it feel like when I reach this time?❁ What do I want to accomplish and why? ❁ How will it feel when I accomplish this? I do not move onto the next step until I have established and written down my action steps so I have a plan that I can track myself on to get there.

  1. Cut and paste – Grab some magazines and papers and start cutting out any pictures, words, colours or quotes that match the goals and feelings that you want.

If you aren’t having any luck in magazines grab a marker and draw your own or hop online and search for the image you are looking for. Now is the fun part of putting it all together, for me I put different images where ever feels right and enjoy the process of simply going with the flow. If you are a little more particular you could layout your pictures before gluing them down and maybe split your board up into different categories if there are multiple things you are wanting to change. There is no right or wrong way to do it but the most important thing as that it represents the life you envision and that you’ll be happy looking at everyday.

  1. Admire your creation –

Find a spot to hang your vision board in a place that you will see everyday, I hung mine behind my bathroom door as it is in plain sight when I get ready every morning and night. Take some time to soak in your vision board and start imagining exactly how you will feel when all of these goals are a reality, the more vivid the better! If you did write down your action steps like a suggested you could pin these up next to your vision board so you tick them off as you achieve them or add them to a calendar you see everyday so you know what needs to be done. I’ll end my tips here and leave you with this quote from Jack Canfield who nailed it when he said, “Your brain will work tirelessly to achieve the statements you give your subconscious mind. When those statements are the affirmations and images of your goals, you are destined to achieve them!”

Thanks for reading and make sure you share your smile with the world today ☮
